Aquarea Air to Water Heat Pump, Residential
Outdoor units:
Indoor units:
The pillars of this new residential building are the design of a matrix of communicating rooms and the use of wood for the industrialisation possibilities of the building, the improvement of the construction quality and the significant reduction of construction time and CO2 emissions.
Challenge
The advantages of building in structural timber are many and widely known: it is a material from the biosphere with a high capacity for hygrothermal regulation and for reducing CO2 emissions, construction time and the weight of the structure, with the consequent savings in foundations, etc. However, it has 3 associated difficulties: fire resistance, cost and noise between neighbours. The work was completed in 17 months and with a PEC of 950 €/m².
Solutions & Tech Applied
As the property requested an active system for heating and DHW supply on the most extreme days of the year, the system selected is a high efficiency low temperature aerothermal system with photovoltaic solar panels. The strategies have mainly focused on reducing the demand for cooling, ventilation and lighting as much as possible through the architectural design. The industrialisation of the construction, the optimisation and correct choice of materials and their use in biospheric state (wood) and recycled state (steel, aggregates) has contributed to reducing the building's footprint by up to 55 % compared to equivalent conventional projects. The building has obtained an A energy rating and has reduced primary energy consumption to 20 kWh/m²/year and CO2 emissions during use to 3 kg CO2/m²/year.
Key Tech Features
The 2 rings of perimeter terraces function as an overhang for solar protection.
External facade clad on the inside with an electro-welded mesh with 28 % porosity.
The addition of layers generates a shade structure that allows the temperature to be reduced.
Capacity
467 kW (heating)
