Following a change in ownership, a hotel with 60 rooms, bar-restaurant, and meeting rooms, long left abandoned had to be completely renovated. The heating and cooling installation had to be remotely controlled. The reliability and performances of Panasonic made it possible to choose a technical and economical solution - a solution meeting the customer’s expectations.

Challenge

The renovation project being overall, it was necessary to integrate the indoor units based on those existing. The installation included the heating and cooling system, ventilation and air treatment, as well as kitchen ventilation. Connection of the entire system to implement the centralised CLOUD management system was particularly difficult.

Solutions & Tech Applied

The decision was made to install ECOi type mini VRFs (7 in total) for more flexibility, ease of installation, and cost.

In the details, 4 mini 2-tube 8 HP VRFs were installed under the building's emergency stairway and are intended for the comfort of the classic rooms. Another 14 HP VRF serving the three meeting rooms was installed in the kitchens. Finally, two 6 HP mini VRFs for the restaurant, reception area, and family rooms were installed on the roof terrace. These two mini-VRFs are single-fan – and not double-fan like the VRFs for bedrooms and the one for seminar rooms – because they require less power.

The VRFs were “zoned” in order to power separate wings independently.

The 14 HP VRF handles the heating or air-conditioning of the meeting rooms and lounge area through recessed 90x90 cassettes equipped with nanoe™ X technology ensuring better indoor air quality.

For the two wings of rooms, 4 external units feed as many S22-PV ducted indoor units - recessed in sub-ceiling - as rooms. The power of the room ducts was determined based on the room volume and basic flow ventilation.

In the reception area, there are also cassettes including one located at an angle due to technical and architectural restraints. For air renewal, a double-flow VRF with a flow of 1,500 m³/h was preferred.

The entire installation is connected to the Panasonic CLOUD centralised management system.
