Panasonic and tado° introduce its first integrated solution aimed to boost heat pump efficiency and energy savings for European homes
07/10/2024
Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions is delighted to announce today its first integrated offering with partner tado°, a leading provider of home energy management solutions. Panasonic’s innovative Aquarea air-to-water heat pump technology has been combined with tado° smart heating products for room control and energy management services, to create one fully integrated solution, available this Autumn. This builds on their partnership, revealed earlier this year, and underscores their shared dedication to delivering sustainable energy solutions whilst lowering energy costs for customers.
Panasonic’s Aquarea air-to-water heat pumps are cost-effective innovative systems that provide both heating and cooling capabilities for year-round comfort, with minimal environmental impact, utilising natural refrigerant R290. They are part of Panasonic’s sustainability initiative the GREEN IMPACT, representing the company’s dedication to reduce its carbon footprint and fostering environmental sustainability.
This joint offering has seen tado° manage its Heat Pump Optimizer X with the energy management service Balance to work seamlessly with Panasonic’s Aquarea heat pump technology. This new integrated solution is managed by a tailored user-friendly application to deliver maximum heating efficiency whilst optimising comfort in the home. The app enables users to enhance their heat pump settings for greater efficiency, automatically adjusting electricity usage to periods of time when renewable energy is available and at low cost.
This means Aquarea heat pumps will deliver heat based on the demand in each room, managed by tado° smart thermostats with Balance’s energy management software. Balance can determine the most cost-efficient times to automatically heat the home by:
- Identifying the least expensive times of the day for electricity charges, for households with dynamic tariffs in Germany and Austria, and therefore turns the heat pumps on in those periods
- Reading local weather forecast and operating the heat pumps with solar panel energy when it is free, for households with their own PV system
- Using the weather forecast to identify the warmest part of the day to heat a hot water tank as the heat pump will be working more efficiently
Also available on the application, once set up, is easy access to the Aquarea heat pump information and settings alongside saving information.
“I am excited about our collaboration with tado° for smart heat pump solutions” comments Hiroshi Komatsubara, CEO of Panasonic Heating Ventilation and Airconditioning Company in Europe. “Our partnership has significantly developed since March and has seen us making significant progress in our shared mission to help customers achieve unprecedented levels of energy efficiency and savings, whilst continuously optimising comfort for our customers. I truly believe Panasonic’s 60 years of experience in heat pump technology is continuing to grow to provide greater value to our customers by optimising our technology and this opportunity with tado° really demonstrates that.”
The innovative Aquarea air-to-water heat pump and tado° room control bundles, launch this autumn to selected European markets and will be available through Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions sales channels.
More details will be unveiled at an upcoming press conference held by Panasonic at Chillventa, in Nuremberg on October 8th. Alternatively, to find out more about Aquarea heat pumps, please visit: https://www.aircon.panasonic.eu/IE_en/
