A 100-year-old, 4-bedroom
property on the Dublin coast is now benefitting from the latest sustainable
heating technology in the form of a Panasonic Aquarea L Series air-to-water
heat pump with the added benefit of Wiser smart controls.
Installer, Garrett Kennedy of
Base Engineering, was tasked with replacing the property’s old oil-fired system
and installing a new 9 kW Panasonic Aquarea L Series system comprising an
outdoor unit using R290, in anthracite grey, and the All-in-One indoor unit.
Garrett comments, “The Panasonic Aquarea L Series is a more energy efficient
system than oil or gas boilers and can be easily connected to existing
radiators to provide a comfortable temperature. The product was particularly
suitable for this project, replacing the old heating in this 100-year old
property. The new heating is also easily controlled through the
additional room-by-room Wiser app controls, giving our customer easy to use
control for the ultimate comfort.”
Graham McCann, homeowner and director of Diamond Air, a Panasonic distributor
in Ireland adds, “There is a lot of talk about retrofitting at the moment to
decarbonise heating, and we knew that our home was a prime setting to benefit
from the Aquarea air source heat pump. We started the project in late November
2023 as the weather was getting colder, and we straight away noticed a
difference in the heating temperature in the house and how easy it was to
achieve a very comfortable environment in every room.”
Panasonic provides its Pro Partners with full support for all design,
installation and commissioning and as a Pro Partner, Base Engineering is also
able to offer a 7-year warranty on the heat pump to Graham and his family.
The Panasonic Aquarea L Series offers unmatched efficiency and reliability in
heating. The units are available in capacities of 5, 7 and 9kW, boasting an
A+++ Energy class. The range provides outstanding efficiency with a SCOP of up
to 5.06, as well as benefitting from a reduced sound level, up to 8dB(A) lower
than previous models. The All-in-One unit has a hydraulic connection between
the indoor and outdoor unit, providing water outlet temperatures of up to 75°C
and down to -10°C. The indoor unit not only supplies efficient heating
throughout the home but also houses the 185L stainless steel tank with U-Vacua™
insulation to further reduce energy losses.
Garrett further explains, “The All-in-One compact indoor unit is easy-to-install
with a footprint of just 598 x 600mm. It has a clever designed to neatly align
with other home appliances such as a refrigerator or washing machine, to reduce
the space required for installation.”
Both the installer and homeowner can access the controls of the heating system
through the Panasonic smart cloud app, plus the installer can remotely check
the performance of the unit via the Panasonic Service Cloud app. The property
further benefits from the Wiser app that connects to each thermostat in every
room.
The smart controls enable homeowners to access information such as temperature
for each room, consumption tracking, and management of their heating system to
improve running costs and efficiency. The Panasonic Service app equips
installers with remote access to this information plus can monitor and fault
diagnose remotely and, in some cases, negates the need for a physical trip to a
home.
Maintaining a strong relationship with Panasonic as a homeowner and product
distributor, Graham McCann trusts the Panasonic brand. Graham added, “I remain
continuously impressed by the performance of Panasonic heat pump technology, as
both a homeowner and as a distributor. The Panasonic unit in my home is
performing exceptionally well, despite the -6°C temperatures we have
experienced over the recent winter months”.
