Panasonic Surpasses 100 Million Units of nanoe™ Devices Shipped Globally
03/12/2024
Panasonic Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Panasonic) proudly announces a significant milestone in its technological journey, having surpassed a combined total shipment of 100million units of nanoe™ devices※1. This advanced technology, which is now a core feature across Panasonic’s range of heating and cooling solutions, has been instrumental in enhancing air quality and improving living and working environments worldwide.
A European Success Story
nanoe™ technology, which originated in response to air pollution issues in the 1990s, has seen widespread adoption across Europe. Research into this groundbreaking solution began in 1997, with development officially commencing in 2001. By 2008, the technology was first incorporated into Panasonic’s air conditioning systems, marking a significant milestone in its evolution. Panasonic’s innovative solution has become a popular choice in European homes and public spaces and is now prominently featured in many of its heating and cooling systems, creating comfortable and welcoming indoor environments.
Celebrating 20 Years of nanoe™ X
This year marks the 20th anniversary of nanoe™ X, an advanced version of nanoe™ technology that produces approximately 10 times more OH radicals than the original nanoe™. The first air conditioning unit equipped with nanoe™ X was launched in 2016, and today, most of Panasonic's air conditioning units incorporate nanoe™ X as a standard feature, including its residential Wall Etherea.
nanoe™ X technology can bring incredible benefits indoors, making hard surfaces, soft furnishings, and the indoor environment cleaner and more pleasant. It can inhibit certain pollutants and deodorise the air, improving the environment when you are at home. The technology works together with heating or cooling functions and can operate independently when you are away, providing continuous air purification.
Global and European Impact
In recent years, the demand for enhanced air quality has surged, leading to annual shipments of nanoe™ devices exceeding 10 million units. These devices are now utilised in diverse facilities and public spaces across 107 countries, including Europe. Notably, nanoe™ technology has been deployed also in domestic railways, automobiles, schools, hospitals, hotels, offices, and commercial facilities throughout Europe.
Technological Advancements
Panasonic continues to explore and evolve the potential of nanoe™ technology. These advancements aim to provide clean and comfortable environments in daily life and society, supporting the wellbeing of individuals in achieving their desired lifestyles.

※1 nanoe™ has a lifespan approximately 6 times* longer than typical ions, allowing it to spread widely. Its moisture content is over 1,000 times** that of air ions (by volume ratio), making it a weakly acidic ion gentle on skin and hair.
