02/12/2024

Panasonic is delighted to be crowned a winner at the 30th edition of the H&V News Awards 2024. The company collected the award for Heat Pump Project of the Year with a social housing project, working with housing provider, Together Housing, installers, Concept Heating and distributor, Graham’s. The collaboration uses the Panasonic J Series Aquarea Monobloc air-to-water heat pumps.

This year’s ceremony was held on 28 November at London’s Hilton Metropole and celebrated the technical innovations, outstanding individuals and programmes at the heart of the industry’s efforts to deliver net zero buildings.

John Kellett, UK Country Manager for Panasonic UK and Ireland commented, “We are delighted that Panasonic has been recognised once again for its work to deliver sustainable heating solutions to social housing. Working closely with partners is really important to us, so it is lovely to win for our collaboration alongside Together Housing, Concept Heating and Graham’s.”

The H&V News Awards Judging Panel 2024 commented, “This was a brilliant project, with a strong focus on resident engagement to ensure that tenants understand their new units and are seamlessly supported throughout the transition. Panasonic's commitment to providing training for maintenance engineers to ensure there is local jobs available and support the transition from gas is extremely valuable and recognises the upcoming skills gap within the industry.”

Together Housing is one of the country's largest social housing providers, partnered with Panasonic to deliver sustainable heating solutions to over 1,200 properties across the North of England as part of its “Go Green Together” agenda. Undertaken as a part of SHDF funding and Together Housing Groups commitment to installing 31,000 heat pumps by 2035, the partnership is committed to finding innovative solutions to the problems surrounding net zero and retrofitting at scale by supporting tenants, upskilling the existing repairs workforce and liaising with local and national government. So far, the collaboration has enabled over 700 homes to transition from gas boilers to renewable solutions using the Panasonic J Series Aquarea Monobloc air-to-water heat pumps, distributed by Graham’s and installed by Concept Heating. Panasonic provided 5, 7 and 9 kW units for retrofitting in 1 to 3-bedroom properties in Yorkshire and Lancashire. By the end of this year, a further 750 homes will also undergo this transition.

Jon Schofield, Assistant Director of Property at Together Housing said: “It’s great to see our partnership with Panasonic has received the Heat Pump Project of the Year award. Our collaborative efforts to put residents at the forefront of our industry leading work has been recognised by the judging panel and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it. Having shared values has been key in establishing this successful partnership and we’re eager to keep the momentum going.”

Panasonic and Together Housing are also leading the way to deliver more environmentally friendly communities across the North of England. This project has proven that heat pumps can be both more environmentally friendly but also more affordable for potentially fuel poor households.
