Panasonic Leads the Way for Veterans in the Workplace
23/05/2024
Panasonic is ecstatic to announce its place as a finalist in the highly esteemed British Ex-Forces Awards 2024, vying for the prestigious Employer of the Year title. The winners will be revealed on June 27 at a dazzling black-tie gala dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Panasonic's support for veterans and their families
has been recognised and shortlisted for the 2024 Employer of the Year award.
Panasonic's dedication to the ex-forces community was cemented when the company
signed the Armed Forces Covenant, joining the ranks of global brands like
Microsoft and Ernst & Young. This agreement symbolises Panasonic's promise
to ensure fair treatment and support for those who serve or have served in the
Naval Service, the Army, and the Royal Air Force.
"Our Armed Forces perform a vital role in
safeguarding our nation," says Jose Alves, Regional Director for Panasonic
UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. "We are honoured to support the veterans
and reservists within our company. Signing the Armed Forces Covenant
significantly reinforced our commitment to those who dedicate their lives to
protecting our country.”
Panasonic's support has been transformative for
veterans like Gary Finn, a former RAF member. Gary initially joined the
Panasonic A2W sales team and has recently taken on the role of Field Support
Engineer. Similarly, Beth Ellis, who served in the Royal Artillery, has thrived
as a National Key Account Manager in the Air-to-Air team.
Emily Charalambous, who joined Panasonic in the A2W sales team and is a former Royal Wessex Yeomanry member, noted that her leadership and people skills from the military have been incredibly valuable at Panasonic. Her ability to make quick decisions and work effectively as a team has been crucial.
Panasonic's efforts to integrate ex-force personnel
extend beyond recruitment. The company provides tailored training and career
development opportunities, helping veterans transition smoothly into civilian
roles. This supports the individuals and addresses industry skill gaps with
highly disciplined and skilled talent.
Panasonic is fulfilling its promise to the Armed
Forces Covenant by actively engaging with and supporting veterans and paving
the way for future initiatives. For more information on Panasonic's low-carbon
