Driving Decarbonisation: Panasonic Highlights Green Initiatives and Strengthens Partnerships at ISH 2025

Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions today held a press briefing and panel discussion at ISH 2025 to highlight its commitment to the decarbonisation of heating and contributing to a greener future.

 

Panasonic is making significant strides in Europe with a robust investment strategy aimed at enhancing its presence and capabilities in the region. In recent years the company has strengthened its organisation to be closer to European customers, investing in its facilities, people and products. Four factories, located in Tillieres (France), Barlassina (Italy), Wroklaw (Poland), and Pilsen (Czech Republic), are set to become CO2 neutral by 2030, with the Pilsen factory on track to achieve this by September 2025. Panasonic's commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by its strategic partnerships with tado° and Innova.

 

Today, Panasonic announced a deeper partnership with tado°, the vendor agnostic European leader in home energy management solutions. Through a €30 million equity investment, Panasonic will strengthen its collaboration with tado° and will also take a seat on tado°'s board, deepening operational collaboration to drive greater synergies and accelerate innovation. This partnership aims to advanced heating solutions to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy.

 

Hiroshi Komatsubara, CEO Panasonic HVAC Europe, presented the company’s solution strategy, highlighting efforts to tackle climate change and promote energy efficiency. He emphasised the importance of innovative technologies and strategic partnerships in achieving these goals, saying: "Our mission is to lead the way in sustainable heating solutions by leveraging cutting-edge technology and forming strategic alliances. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and helping our customers do the same."

 

The presentation highlighted the European Green Deal and the role of renewable energy in achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Panasonic's heat pump technology was highlighted as a key component in producing renewable heating and cooling. Panasonic addressed the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and its impact on building energy efficiency, emphasising the importance of sustainable heating solutions.

 

Enrique Vilamitjana, Managing Director of Panasonic HVAC Europe, stated, "Our new HVAC solutions represent a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability. We are proud to lead the way in providing innovative and efficient heating solutions that contribute to a greener future."

 

Jose Alves, Director Panasonic UK, IE & DACH added, "Heat pump technology is at the core of our strategy to produce renewable heating and cooling. For example, our wide range of Aquarea heat pumps offer unparalleled performance and efficiency, making them the ideal choice for both residential and commercial applications."

 

Panasonic reaffirmed its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions through its Green ImpACT initiative, contributing to society's overall CO2 reduction efforts. The company is focusing on reducing its direct CO2 emissions from its own business operations. Beyond that, it is continuously innovating to provide solutions that help customers avoid CO2 emissions in every part of their business, building, community and supply chain.

 

Panasonic also took the opportunity to hold a Panel Discussion “Why people are driving the heating decarbonization" featuring industry experts, Nico Rosberg, a VC & Sustainability Entrepreneur and Formula 1 World Champion 2016, Christian Deilmann, Co-Founder of tado°, and Enrique Vilamitjana. The discussion was moderated by Anja Floetenmeyer-Woltmann, Strategist for clean heating, mobility and climate protection communications.

 

The thought-provoking discussion explored the driving forces behind heating decarbonisation and the importance of renewable energy. The panellists emphasised the role of individuals and communities in promoting sustainable heating solutions and reducing carbon emissions. Nico Rosberg shared his insights on the impact of renewable energy on the environment and the importance of innovative solutions in achieving climate goals. Christian Deilmann discussed the company's efforts in developing smart heating solutions that enhance energy efficiency and user comfort. Enrique Vilamitjana highlighted Panasonic's commitment to leading the way in sustainable heating solutions and the company's strategic initiatives to promote energy efficiency.
