Panasonic Partners with Innovative LIFE iTS4ZEB Project Launching at Chillventa 2024
07/10/2024
Panasonic Heating & Cooling is proud to be
officially introducing the pioneering LIFE iTS4ZEB
project at its Booth 4A-429 during Chillventa, Nuremberg on October 8th, 2024. The
LIFE iTS4ZEB initiative aims to provide advanced thermal energy storage for
zero-emission buildings. This highly anticipated event will provide attendees
with the chance to learn about the cutting-edge solutions to be developed under
the initiative and to gain in-depth insights into this innovative collaborative
project.
The LIFE iTS4ZEB project, led by Innova and
supported by six partners including Panasonic, is set to revolutionise the way
we approach thermal energy storage in buildings. This ambitious initiative,
funded by the European Commission under the LIFE Programme, aims to develop and
demonstrate next-generation thermal energy storage (TES) technologies that are
compact, high-performing, cost-effective, and modular.
Key Highlights of the LIFE iTS4ZEB Project
·
Innovative Technology:
The project will develop a multi-source heat pump combined with PCM, optimized
by novel control algorithms.
·
Wide Applicability:
Solutions will be applicable to a variety of buildings, whether new or
renovated, poorly or well-insulated.
·
Real-World Demonstrations:
50 independent demonstrators will be installed across 10 European countries to
validate the technology in real-life contexts.
· Market
Readiness: Innova aims to produce a pre-series in the
final configuration and start producing and selling the first 500 units.
The project aims to deliver to the market a
product that integrates heat pump (HP) and PCM TES technology, enabling
ready-to-use energy storage even in already existing installations. It features
capabilities that easily detect self-consumption of PV energy, maximising the
amount of energy that can be produced and consumed on-site. Additionally, it
allows for demand response for smart grids without compromising comfort and
ensures appropriate purchasing and maintenance costs.
Six Partners to Build a Sustainable Future
A strategic alliance of six partners have
joined forces for this groundbreaking research initiative:
·
INNOVA: the driving force of
the project, Innova aims to produce a pre-series in the final configuration and
kickstart production/sales of the first 500 units.
·
Panasonic Marketing Europe
GmbH: Leaders in sustainable solutions for heating and cooling.
·
EURAC: A private non-profit
organisation dedicated to advanced research and education, engaged in fields as
diverse as Autonomy, Health, Mountains, and Technology.
·
Studio Fieschi & Partners:
An international consultancy in the fields of environment and sustainability.
·
THERMALINK: A leading designer
and manufacturer of prefabricated organic thermal storage modules made of PCM.
· The
University of Padua: Through its Department of Management and Engineering
(DTG), it has state-of-the-art facilities for research in thermodynamics, heat
transfer, refrigeration technology, materials, and more.
The launch event is set to take place at Chillventa,
Nuremberg, on October 8th 2024, at 3.30pm CET on the Panasonic Heating &
Cooling Solutions Booth, Hall 4A / Booth 4A-429.
