Our long-term environmental vision
Panasonic GREEN IMPACT
The Panasonic Group is committed to its long-term environmental vision, “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT,” to create a positive impact from actions that reduce our own CO2 emissions, contribute to avoiding CO2 emissions of society, and realize a circular economy. In addition to reducing its own CO2 emissions, the group is focused on expanding its contribution to CO2 reduction in society and promoting business activities that strive towards a circular economy.
Our CO2 emissions reduction goals
With three areas of impact, we aim to help achieve a reduction and avoidance of over 300 million tons1 of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 1% of the total current global emissions2.
Reduced emissions
OWN IMPACT
110 milion tons*
Emission reduction in the Group’s value chain
With OWN IMPACT, we will work on achieving zero CO2 emissions within our own value chain, in our business activities, throughout the process from the procurement of raw materials and manufacturing to product distribution, its usage, and disposal or recycling.
Avoided emissions
CONTRIBUTION IMPACT
100 milion tons
Emissions avoided by existing business
With CONTRIBUTION IMPACT, we aim to promote the wider use of e.g. electric vehicles running on our automotive battery cells, and our heat-pumps and fuel cells, to help reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by at least 100 million tons by 2050.
Avoided emissions
FUTURE IMPACT
100 milion tons
Emissions avoided through new technologies and business
Through FUTURE IMPACT, we aim to achieve avoided CO2 emissions of at least 100 million tons by 2050 by creating and disseminating new technologies, such as glass-integrated Perovskite solar cells, to contribute to a to be decarbonised society.
2. In 2020, energy-related CO2 emissions totalled 31.7 billion tons (source: IEA).
*Based on CO2 emissions data for the year 2020—indicates realization of net zero CO2 emissions from factory production around the world.
By 2030, we aim to attain Zero-CO2 emissions at all our factories
In 2024, we surpassed our goal of 37 factories by year-end March 2025 and now have 44 Zero-CO2 emissions factories:
a. North and Latin America: 8 sites and factories. b. Europe and CIS: 1 factory. c. Southeast Asia, Pan Pacific, India, South Asia, Middle East: 6 sites and factories. d. China and Northeast Asia: 16 sites and factories. e. Japan: 13 sites and factories.
